First Look at the Black Ovis Crestone Trekking Poles

First Look at the Black Ovis Crestone Trekking Poles
Today we'll be looking at the Crestone Trekking poles Black Ovis released several months ago. Now, I haven't thoroughly gone through these on a hunt but I did put  4 miles in desert lava rock and 1000 feet in elevation on them last week. Mostly in preparation for a Montana spring bear hunt I have coming up.
Specs:
  • 3 Section collapsible carbon shaft
  • 100% Carbon fiber construction
  • Multi-grip position high density foam handle
  • Adjustable ultra lightweight wrist strap
  • Aluminum flick-lock closure
  • Carbide tip with removable rubber cap
  • Hook and loop strap to secure poles together when collapsed
  • Usable Length: 115-130cm (46-52")
  • Weight per pair: 18oz
  • Collapsed Length: 14"
  • 1 year warranty
So far I really like how Black Ovis put these together, I'll be putting them through some of the roughest country I've ever had the opportunity to hike here in a month or so.

Are trekking Poles worth it?
Trekking poles are like the pre-workout, they give you that little extra kick you need to do one more rep. I don't use them all the time on every hunt, I do use them almost every time there is a pack out to be done. They are great little knee savers that can definitely come in handy when the time comes.
